Maurten Launches Bicarb System
Maurten has developed a sports nutritional supplement called BiCarb that combines sodium bicarbonate with Maurten’s hydrogel. Sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO₃) is well known to buffer the burning sensation associated with acidosis caused by high-intensity exercise by moving hydrogen ions out of the muscles faster. However, it has the side-effect of GI distress. Maruten’s BiCarb system uses hydrogel to circumvent the GI distress by hiding itself in the stomach and entering the intestines directly, similar to how Maurten Energy gels work. Read more here.

Celebrating Protein Day
As we celebrate Protein Day in India on 27 February, let's remember the crucial role of protein in running. Protein is essential for repairing and rebuilding muscles, which is crucial for endurance and strength. Without sufficient protein, your muscles won't recover effectively, leading to fatigue, weakness, and even injury. Besides, consuming enough protein can also boost your immune system and promote overall health. To ensure that you're getting enough protein in your diet, aim to consume lean meats, fish, eggs, dairy products, beans, lentils, nuts, and seeds regularly. Luckily, Indian cuisine offers a variety of delicious options to add more protein to your meals. For example, tandoori fish and quinoa pulao are high in protein and low in fat. Grilled chicken salads are also a great way to consume lean protein and veggies. For vegetarians, moong dal khichdi or vegetable curry is a protein and fibre-rich option, while palak chicken combines chicken with spinach and spices for a nutritious meal. Incorporating these protein-rich meals into your diet can support muscle growth, energy, and overall health, making you a stronger and more efficient runner.
