#WoW - Anterior step-downs
Anterior step-down is a great way to promote eccentric strength in our lower body, as well as strengthen our quads, glutes, and hamstrings.
How to do it
Stand on a step or elevated platform with one foot.
Slowly lower the other foot toward the ground, maintaining control and keeping your balance.
Lightly touch the ground with your heel, then return to the starting position.
Aim for 2-3 sets of 10-15 repetitions on each leg
@Geeksonfeet - Nike Pegasus 41 Review
The Nike Pegasus 41, the latest in the iconic Pegasus series, introduces significant updates that enhance its versatility as a daily trainer. Key features include a breathable engineered mesh upper, a responsive ReactX foam midsole, and a durable waffle-pattern outsole. The new ReactX foam, combined with two Air Zoom units, provides a 13% increase in responsiveness and a higher stack height of 37mm for improved cushioning. The upper's breathability ensures comfort in high heat and humidity, while the outsole offers excellent grip on various surfaces. The shoe's stability is enhanced by a padded heel and a rigid heel counter, making it suitable for heel strikers. Despite its firm feel and initial high price, the Pegasus 41 excels in comfort, fit, and eco-friendly design, using 70% recycled materials.
Ideal for long runs and varied conditions, it may not provide the bounce needed for speed workouts but remains a dependable choice for daily training.
Pros: Comfortable fit, excellent grip, eco-friendly materials.
Cons: Firm feel, less breathable upper, high initial price.

The 30-year-old Kosgei, who set a world record 2:14:04 for the women's marathon in Chicago 2019, was hoping to make her second Olympic appearance after being named alongside defending champion Peres Jepchirchir and former Olympic 5000m silver medallist Hellen Obiri in the women's marathon lineup. Kosgei has been replaced by Sharon Lokedi, the 2022 New York marathon champion who had been named in the traveling reserve squad. #TriviaOfTheWeek - AIMS Certification
Imagine a race where the finish line is a few hundred meters short. Not only would it be unfair to the runners, but it could also affect qualifying times for events like World Marathon Majors. This is where AIMS steps in.
From humble beginnings in the 1980s, the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) has become a global powerhouse in the world of running. AIMS sets the standard for accurate distance measurements, ensuring that races meet the strict criteria for World Marathon Majors and Olympic qualifying performances. They have a dedicated team of AIMS-World Athletics accredited measurers who use meticulous techniques like bicycle calibration to verify course accuracy as they did for the Mangalore Marathon.
How does AIMS measure it?
The process involves a team of AIMS-World Athletics accredited measurers. Here's how it is done:
The Measuring Machine: A specially calibrated bicycle, equipped with sensors and a computer, is used to measure the course with remarkable accuracy.
Riding the Course: An experienced measurer carefully pedals the bicycle along the entire race route, navigating turns and inclines.
Data Collection: The bicycle's sensors record every twist and turn, meticulously capturing the precise distance traveled.
Verifying Results: The collected data is then analyzed to ensure that the course meets AIMS standards. For example, the course cannot have a net downhill of more than 1 meter per kilometer, and the separation (the straight-line distance between start and finish) cannot exceed 50% of the total distance.
Inchara Prabhudha from Mangalore Runners, who worked with AIMS on certifying the Mangalore Marathon course has contributed this trivia.
