#WoW - Tree Pose (Vrikshasana)
Tree Pose (Vrikshasana) helps runners improve balance, core strength, and hip mobility, reducing the risk of injuries and enhancing running posture. It also strengthens the lower body muscles like calves, thighs, and glutes while promoting focus and mental calmness.
How to do it:
Stand tall with feet together, shift your weight onto one foot, and place the sole of the opposite foot on the inner thigh or calf (avoid the knee).
Extend your arms overhead. Hold the pose while maintaining steady breathing, then switch sides.
We have bundled hip mobility workouts for easy access for runners.

@GeeksOnFeet: Shoe Review: Reebok FloatZig 1
The Reebok FloatZig 1 is a daily training shoe focused on comfort and stability, blending Floatride Energy foam with a bold zigzag midsole design. Ideal for long, easy, and recovery runs, it offers a soft, stable ride with a secure fit and high durability. While it handles moderate tempos, its weight (305g for UK 10) and muted responsiveness make it less suitable for speedwork or races. The outsole performs well on dry and mildly wet roads, and the upper remains comfortable over long distances, though ventilation could be better in hot weather. Priced at ₹15,999, it’s slightly expensive, but it offers solid value for high-mileage runners and casual wearers alike. Read the full review here.

2025 Comrades Marathon: Gerda Steyn and Tete Dijana Win for Fourth, Third Time
On Saturday, June 8, Gerda Steyn, of South Africa but who lives in the United Arab Emirates, and Tete Dijana of South Africa won the 98th running of the Comrades Marathon. For Steyn, it was her fourth win and third in a row. Dijana won for the third time and gained redemption after last year’s disappointing 14th-place finish. Racing in the “down” direction, Steyn gained the lead just before halfway and took the win in 5:51:19. Steyn was second in 2018, and won in 2019, 2023, and 2024. Read more here
The 2025 race saw over 22,000 runners at the start line, making it the largest down-run in the Comrades’ history. The year also saw a record Indian participation with over 310 runners finishing the race, with almost 400 registering for it. Devarao Choudhari and Aarti Brijmohan Zanwar led the Indian men and women with a time of 7:03:22 and 8:37:48, respectively.

Chebet Misses 5000m World Record by 3 Seconds
Kenya’s Olympic champion Beatrice Chebet came agonizingly close to breaking the women’s 5000m world record at the Rome Diamond League 2025, clocking 14:03.69, the second-fastest time in history.
Chebet pulled away from a fast-starting lead pack and dropped world record holder Gudaf Tsegay with four laps to go. But without anyone pushing her pace, she slightly faded in the final laps, falling just short of Tsegay’s 14:00.21 mark. Her time set a new Kenyan national record, breaking Faith Kipyegon’s 2023 mark of 14:05.20.
Tsegay faded to fifth, with Ethiopia’s Freweyni Hailu (14:19.33 PB), Italy’s Nadia Battocletti (14:23.15 NR), and Birke Haylom all finishing ahead of her. Read more here.
