#WoW - Fast Feet
"Fast feet" workout helps Runners to quickly turnover their steps, essentially helping in increasing their cadence.
Incorporating Fast Feet as part of your running drills can lead to improved efficiency, speed, reduced risk of injury, better form, and enhanced endurance.
How to do it?
Start with your feet hip or shoulder width apart, and move your feet quickly in place raising through your mid-foot. Keep your body low through the drill.
It primarily works on your leg turn-over.
You can start doing fast feet with your hands steady and then gradually your elbows in sync with the feet as shown in the video.
When to do this?
Include this as part of your running drills before the run or as part of your strength training sessions.

Tragic Loss for Running World: World Record-Holder Kelvin Kiptum Dies at 24
The running world mourns the untimely death of Kenyan marathon prodigy, Kelvin Kiptum, who passed away at the young age of 24 in a road accident on 11 February. The tragedy also claimed the life of his coach, Gervais Hakizimana.
As per the police reports, Kiptum, the one behind the steering, lost control of his vehicle, veered off the road, and collided with a tree. Kiptum had made a spectacular entry into the marathon scene with a debut win in Valencia, clocking an astonishing 2:01:53, making him the third fastest runner then, just behind Eliud Kipchoge and Kenenisa Bekele. His prowess was further solidified when he shattered the marathon world record with a time of 2:00:35 in Chicago, a feat that earned him the title of 2023 World Athlete of the Year for men’s out-of-stadia events. New Delhi “National Marathon” is now a Paris Olympics Qualifier
The New Delhi Marathon returns for its ninth edition on February 25 at the JLN Stadium, with its status elevated by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) as a national event and a crucial qualifying opportunity for Indian elite athletes to the Paris Olympics. With the Olympic qualifying window closing on June 30, this practically is the last opportunity for Indian marathoners who are eyeing to make history. India had no representation in the marathon event at Tokyo Olympics. All eyes are now on the clock and the finish line as athletes vie for Olympic glory and their share of the prize pool. Read more here.
India's national marathon record has stood at 2:12 since the 1970s, with recent top performances hovering around the 2:14 mark. With the Paris Olympics qualification time set at 2:08:10, there's a noticeable gap in the international competitiveness of Indian marathoners. The same is true for women’s category as well.
Delhi Metro Announces Early Services for ATNDM Runners
The Apollo Tyres New Delhi Marathon, set for February 25, 2024, takes a significant step towards sustainability with the help of Delhi Metro. However, the marathon event participants won’t be able to use the metro services on the way to the race venue because the race starts at 4:15am. Read more here.
TipOfTheWeek - Polyphasic Sleep for better training benefits
Polyphasic sleep is a sleep pattern that involves multiple periods of rest within a 24-hour cycle, rather than one extended block of sleep at night. Elite athletes sometimes use this method to maximize recovery and performance, particularly during periods of high-intensity training or competition preparation.
Here’s how recreational marathon runners can adopt a simplified form of polyphasic sleep during their intense training periods:
Integrate Power Naps: Add a short, 20-minute power nap to your routine, ideally in the early afternoon following a training session. This can help to mitigate sleep debt and enhance muscle recovery.
Maintain Regular Nightly Sleep: Aim for a consistent 7-9 hours of sleep at night. Consistency is key, as it helps regulate your body's internal clock and optimizes recovery cycles.
Align Naps with Training Intensity: On days when you have a particularly strenuous workout, plan for a nap after 2 hours. This helps in taking advantage of the natural downtime when your body is already primed for repair.

#TriviaOfTheWeek:
Did you know that Kelvin Kiptum's journey to becoming a celebrated marathoner began amidst the rolling hills and grassy plains of rural Kenya, where he spent his childhood tending goats as a herder? Kiptum’s family couldn’t afford for him to travel to the town of Eldoret 30km away, where many of Kenya’s pro runners base themselves, to do track sessions so he joined a village running group and ran down the dirt roads of Chepkorio. He started running road races by the age of 13 and made his international debut at the Lisbon Half Marathon, where he finished fifth with a personal best time of 59:54. In 2022, he made his marathon debut at the Valencia Marathon – which he went on to win in 2:01:53 – becoming the fastest marathon debutant in the history.
